The Orlando Magic were said to be open to ‘giving away’ Jameer Nelson, but the veteran point guard remained on the Orlando roster once the NBA’s trade deadline came to an end.

But it wasn’t because teams didn’t attempt to trade for him as according to John Denton, the Washington Wizards made several attempts to trade for the point guard.

Has to be surreal for PG Jameer Nelson being in Wash. considering made several attempts to trade for him before deadline.

The Wizards of course ended up acquiring Andre Miller from the Denver Nuggets in a three-team deal, sending Jan Vesely to the Mile High city in exchange.

It was a bit of a hefty price to pay considering Miller was all but banished in Denver and the Nuggets had little negotiating room, but Vesley was unlikely to be brought back next season.

Nelson, for what it’s worth, is due a bit more than Miller next season and it’s possible the Wizards wanted to save a little money and opted to acquire Miller over the former St. Joesph’s talent.
