The Cleveland Browns are one of the teams at the top of the 2014 NFL Draft that may consider a quarterback, but the latest reports make things a little more interesting. According to former NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah who now works with the NFL Network, the Browns are very interested in Fresno State signal-caller Derek Carr.
Jeremiah shared the report during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show.
If Cleveland is seriously interested in Carr, then he would be a candidate to be selected with their second first-round pick. Carr is currently considered a borderline first-round talent, so he likely wouldn’t be considered with their top pick.
By targeting Carr with their second pick, the Browns could focus on adding a true difference maker to the offense. A player like wide receiver Sammy Watkins would be a great fit opposite Josh Gordon and give the Browns one of the most talented wide receiver duos in the league.
We will have to see how this plays out as we get closer to May’s draft.
