We have been waiting months to hear just about anything from the set of the new J.J. Abrams Star Wars movie and today came the biggest bombshell casting news yet. after months of nothing but baseless rumors and speculation, Variety is reporting that Girls star Adam Driver is in talks o play the main villain in Star Wars Episode 7.
Sources tell Variety that while no deal is done yet, the “Girls” actor is close to signing on to play the villain in J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars: Episode VII.” Exact details are unknown, but the character is said to be in the vein of iconic “Star Wars” villain Darth Vader.
This is huge news considering that names that have been mentioned, and Driver’s name has come out of absolutely nowhere to be mentioned in perhaps the biggest role in the film. Nothing is official yet, but Variety is considered one of the more reliable trades in Hollywood.
Driver was recently rumored to be attached to Batman vs. Superman but that rumor ended up going nowhere. The cinematic shoes don’t come much bigger to fill than those of Darth Vader, but it appears that Lucasfilm and Disney believe Driver is the man for the job and he’s looking to be the first actor officially cast.
