A new season of baseball if officially upon us as Spring Training games got underway today across the MLB. Not everyone is in action, as Spring Training schedules are often a garbled mess to follow, but we do know that the long ball is back, and that’s something everyone can follow.
The Toronto Blue Jays are taking on the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday and Jose Bautista is getting his 2014 year off to a great start. On his very first at-bat of Spring Training, Bautista took Roberto Hernandez deep to center field for a monster bomb that officially kicks off the season.
Spring Training will die down as we get through March, but the start of a new season is right around the corner and baseball can’t return to us soon enough — and neither can that sweet, sweet long ball.
