The Columbus Blue Jackets are set to take on the New Jersey Devils in what boils down to an incredibly important game in the tight playoff race that is the Metropolitan Division. If the Devils can come up with a victory, they’ll be within striking distance of the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
If the Blue Jackets win, they’ll further distance themselves from at least once team that is trying to catch them in the super-packed Metropolitan.
Columbus was playing some outstanding hockey leading up to the Olympic break, but one could argue that they aren’t in better shape than they were prior to the Winter Games beginning. They lost Fedor Tyutin for the next few weeks, but should be able to find a replacement in-house. Ryan Murray is a great candidate.
