Hopefully your preparations for the 2014 fantasy baseball season are well underway. If you need some help, check out our 2014 fantasy baseball preview which continues in this post as we turn to our fifth highlighted position in our  preview series.  Today, we’ll be looking at all the third basemen in the American League.  Later this week we’ll look a the National League teams and have our full rankings at the position. Stay tuned to our fantasy baseball page throughout the season for coverage of all the sleepers, starters, and sluggers to help you dominate your fantasy baseball season.

Overall, third base is a deeper position than in years past, but there is a lack of elite options with just a few top-shelf producers available at the position.  In fact, the top 3B on almost every list probably won’t play there very much this season as Miguel Cabrera moves across the diamond to play 1B in place of the departed Prince Fielder.

Make sure you know what you are looking for if you don’t get one of the top few options since there are category-specific producers that you can get late in the draft that represent value.

Let’s get started with our focus on the American League players at 3B as we go team by team looking at who played the position for each time last season, who is projected to play the position this season, and what fantasy value each team’s option presents. The numbers in parentheses are the games played at 3B by that player in the 2013 season.
