The Los Angeles Kings went into the Winter Olympic break playing un-King-like puck. The Calgary Flames were on a bit of an upswing when the 2014 Winter Olympics roller around. Will both teams continue on the track that they were set in prior to Sochi, or will the Kings finally find a way to score some goals?
They are likely looking for strong efforts from Drew Doughty and Dustin Brown. Both players have struggled to score goals over the last several games for the Kings, but the duo didn’t struggle at all in Russia. Doughty was the leading scorer for Team Canada and helped the team win a gold medal.
While fortune didn’t shine quite as brightly on Brown—the Americans were eliminated by Doughty and the Canadians—he was still one of his squads best players. Ditto for Jonathan Quick, who just couldn’t get the offensive support he needed as the No. 1 goalie for the US after the preliminary round.
With a 2-8-0 record in their last 10, will L.A. be able to utilize the break in time to buck the trend? Or will a Calgary team that loves to play the spoiler around this time of year come up with the big stop? Tune in to find out. Here’s how.
