By now there’s a good chance you’ve heard of Hank – the Milwaukee Brewers adopted mascot.
If you haven’t, here’s a small back story.
When the Brewers arrived at their Phoenix-based spring training facility a few weeks back, a stray dog was seen in the area. Unlike most strays that run away, this youthful pup came right over to players and management.
Fearing something had happened to the dog, they took him to a local veterinarian who suggested that he had been hit by a car.
After some treatment, the dog was taken back to the complex where the team attempted to find the owner. Unable to do so, the Brewers ‘adopted’ the dog and named him ‘Hank’ in honor of Major League Baseball legend, Hank Aaron.
‘Hank’ has been living the high life ever since, frolicking in the lush outfield grass and taking infield practice with the team – this during his few free moments where he’s not being loved on by members of the front office and players.
The loveable pup even participated in the Brewers famed ‘sausage races’ (wearing a hot dog suit) during opening day of 2014 Spring Training.
