The New York Knicks aren’t likely to make the NBA playoffs unless they pull off an impressive win streak, something that will reportedly play a factor in Carmelo Anthony‘s potential free agent status.

Melo holds a player option at season end, though, is expected to exercise it in hopes to secure a longer term contract.

Will that be with the New York Knicks? It’s possible – though Anthony did admit he will factor in the Knicks season, both on and off the court, when he makes his decision.

Carmelo says the way the Knicks season has unfolded – on and off the court – will weigh into his free agent decision.

Given how woeful the Knicks’ season has become, that can’t really be viewed as positive news for Knickerbocker faithful.

It’s been said by a handful of sources that the Knicks do likely still hold the best odds to keep Melo in New York moving forward, but we’ve seen the star forward express his frustrations more than once this season.

Should be an interesting few months.
