NFL Free Agency Rumors: Patriots, LeGarrette Blount have mutual interest
By Bryan Rose
We’ve known the New England Patriots were interested in re-signing free agent running back LeGarrette Blount, but we weren’t exactly sure of what Blount’s intentions were.
Now we have a more clear idea as according to ESPN Boston, Blount has mutual interest in staying with the Patriots.
"Mutual interest in his return. A player who seemingly has more value to the Patriots than most others, which makes us think it’s a greater likelihood he’s back."
The problem the two sides will have is financial.
The Patriots have a few more pressing needs than securing Blount and likely won’t offer much more than $1 or $2 million to the veteran.
That’s likely to be on the low side of potential offers he may receive – especially given the running back hungry teams that will be attempting to sway Blount in free agency.
So while the two sides have mutual interest in reuniting moving forward, actually doing so may be a different story unless Blount is to take a ‘hometown’ discount.
