Phil Simms believes Geno Smith would be the top QB in the 2014 NFL Draft

There’s a lot of hype surrounding Johnny Manziel, Blake Bortles and Teddy Bridgewater as we head toward the 2014 NFL Draft. Most experts have these three as the definitive best in the class, and that list might include CBS analyst Phil Simms, even though he believes that Geno Smith might be better than all three of them.

Yes, Simms does believe that, if he were eligible this year, Smith would be taken before all three of the aforementioned names, despite the free fall that he suffered through at last year’s draft.

“I think if Geno Smith was in this draft class he would be the number one guy, without question.”

The former New York Giants legend is certainly entitled to his opinion, no matter how we feel about it. But, what might help his argument a little more was if he actually admitted to having studied 2014′s three prospects, which he did not.

“I haven’t watched them on coaches’ film.” He also opined in October that “this ‘unbelievable’ quarterback class that is coming out — it is not going to be unbelievable.”

Yeah, that doesn’t help matters much, Phil.
