The Seattle Mariners opened up the vault when they signed former New York Yankees All-Star second baseman Robinson Cano to a 10-year deal worth $240 million and Cano is already showing that it’s money well spent with this single to center in his Cactus League debut.

Now, I know what you’re thinking and you’re saying it’s just one hit in a meaningless Spring Training game, and you’d be right, but for Mariners fans who have desperately been needing something or someone to cheer for since Ichiro was traded to the Yankees a couple years ago, this is a nice start and a sign of things to come.

I wonder if Cano hustled all the way to first base or not. Cano drew the ire of Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long earlier this month when he criticized Cano for his inability to get through to Cano on hustling to first base and not being a “dog.”
