Zack Greinke leaves Los Angeles Dodgers game with injury

The Los Angeles Dodgers are already without Matt Kemp and lost Carl Crawford to an injury on Wednesday.

Thursday was no better as starting pitcher Zack Greinke left his Cactus League debut after just four pitches.

Thankfully it’s not an arm injury as Grienke reportedly suffered a right calf strain and the removal from the contest was simply precautionary.

Greinke removed from game after throwing 4 pitches. Precautionary measure with right calf issue. He’s with trainer in clubhouse.

It’s not known if Greinke could have stayed in the game if it were a regular season contest, but the Dodgers understandably were going to take no chances with their second starter.

It’s currently not known how this will affect Grienke moving forward as he was slated to open one of the two Dodgers Australian games in March. The injury – if it forces him to miss any time at all – could put a hamper on those games.

We’ll continue to monitor his progress if any further news comes from the injury – hopefully it’s nothing major and he’ll be back on the mound in a couple of days.
