NFL Draft rumors: Teams 'very quietly getting excited' about Derek Carr

It wasn’t too long ago that Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr was being discussed as a potential top ten pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, but the buzz has been quiet lately and many are beginning to say Carr is now a borderline first-round pick.

The most we have heard on the Carr front is that the Cleveland Browns could be targeting him with their second first-round pick in May, but apparently a few other teams are hoping that he could fall into their laps.

According to former NFL executive Greg Gabriel, teams are “very quietly getting excited” about Carr thanks to his “strong interviews” during the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine.

Carr has had an inconsistent start to draft season thanks to an average showing at the Senior Bowl, but if he can continue to impress teams during the interview process and private workouts he could once again begin climbing up draft boards.
