Vancouver Canucks asking price for Ryan Kesler known

We may not ever know whether or not Ryan Kesler asked the Vancouver Canucks to trade him, but various sources from various outlets are reporting on conversations that the team has had about a potential deal. Several squads have been linked to the Canucks by name, and it has been reported that the Pittsburgh Penguins made a solid pitch for him prior to the Olympic break.

While no deal seems imminent, reports indicate that Vancouver knows what it wants in exchange for Kesler.

In a season that has seen managers struggle to make moves because of salary cap constraints, a move of this caliber would be surprising and mildly remarkable. Kesler makes $5 million a season, so he wouldn’t break the bank as the cap ceiling goes up over the next two years, but there is that whole no-movement clause that folks don’t seem to be taking into consideration.
