Blues and Sabres use front office personnel as back up goalies

Since the Buffalo Sabres agreed to a deal with the St. Louis Blues involving goalie Ryan Miller, they needed to dig deep to find a new goal tender to serve as back up. Instead they found Ryan Vinz, director of hockey technology, to serve as back up in the game sitting on the bench in uniform.

And because the deal sent Blues’ goalie Jaroslav Halak to the Sabres, they were forced to do the same, but they’re back up was Anaheim Ducks locker room attendant Jeff Tyni. The opponents locker room attendant suited up for the other team.

Meanwhile, Miller and teammate Steve Ott who was also included in the deal, are looking forward to playing with the Blues.

“I am very excited for an opportunity to have a new adventure,” Miller said, via the Blues’ website. “I have a strong sense that (St. Louis) has a very special team.”

“I’m really excited to have this opportunity with St. Louis,” Ott said. “My dream and my biggest goal is to have a chance at a Stanley Cup.”
