Colorado's Spencer Dinwiddie considering NBA draft

Colorado Buffaloes guard Spencer Dinwiddie was putting together a great 2013-14 season — 14.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game — before tearing  his ACL against the Washington Huskies on Jan. 12. Now the junior is contemplating forgoing his final season in Boulder and instead entering the NBA draft.

Dinwiddie told Buff Zone that he’ll enter the draft if he’s project as a first-round pick:

“If I can be confident that it’s going to be a first-round type of thing, then I’d leave,” he said. “If they’re not sure and talking second round or middle of the second round, I’ll be back (at CU).

“There was no doubt in my mind (before the injury) that the first round was going to be — it was where, not if. Now, it’s an if, and I can’t take an if.”

Before his season-ending injury, Dinwiddie was indeed considered a first-round prospect by prognosticators. However, his stock has dropped since then, and, due to his injury, he won’t be able to showcase his talents for professional scouts before the April 27 declaration deadline.

Dinwiddie said he plans on making his decision sometime after his 21st birthday on April 6, so we’ll update you when he does.
