Ex-Texas Tech QB Michael Brewer visiting Virginia Tech this weekend

The process of former Texas Tech Red Raiders quarterback becoming the successor to Logan Thomas in Blacksburg for the Virginia Tech Hokies is about to take a serious turn toward the probable as the Tech transfer is set to visit Frank Beamer and company this weekend, according to a report from Andy Bitter.

Reports began to surface this past week that Brewer could be headed east to play for the Hokies in the ACC, this following Texas Tech blocking transfer possibilities to both the Texas Longhorns and TCU Horned Frogs, citing not wanting him to play in the conference, much like Mike Gundy and Oklahoma State did with Wes Lunt last offseason.

Brewer lost out on the chance to become the starter in Lubbock prior to last season as he battled a back injury, this after he saw time sparingly under center in 2012.

With his graduation this spring, Brewer will be eligible to play immediately this season, no matter where he chooses to go and he will have two years of that eligibility to play with.
