Head coach Brian Shaw rips Denver Nuggets players

It’s been a season marred with turmoil for Denver Nuggets head coach Brian Shaw.

That’s only going to get worse after the rookie head coach blasted his players on Saturday night following their 102-96 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

“I don’t know how many of these guys have gotten into fights in their life, but if I’m going down, I’m going down swinging,” Shaw said. “I’m not just going to keep taking blows and taking blows and not deliver any myself. That’s all I want to see. I just want to see some fight.”

The Nuggets have lost five in a row and nine of ten, so the fight Shaw is wondering about is understandably up for deliberation.

Of course, it’s not the first time Shaw has harpooned his roster and the team has seemingly appeared to quit on him given the constant lambasting.

Denver doesn’t exactly have the most talented roster and they’ve been hit hard by injury, but Shaw does have a point – a team has to fight no matter the product on the floor.

It is not the players who lack fight. It is the coach that lacks leadership. Chalk up this hire as a mistake and move on.

I hate to agree with you…but I am. There were some awful moves by the Nuggets owner after having their best regular season in the team’s history. Karl knew how to get the best out of what he had to work with (and it wasn’t all that great) while Shaw is still learning on the fly (and not very quickly).

I totally agree it’s easy for Shaw to sit back and blame everybody else…it wasn’t broke so why did the front office try to fix it? Time to move on! We’ve got winners in this team he just needs to put aces in there places!! And seriously we couldn’t have gotten a better stronger point guard the Aaron Brooks?? One three letter word comes to mind WOW!
