Jon Morosi reports that the Dodgers have traded Justin Sellers to the Cleveland Indians for an undisclosed amount of cash.
Seeing as Los Angeles is clearly not hurting for money, at least in the amount that Sellers was likely given up for, it would seem that the Indians were the aggressor in this deal. Sellers was the Opening Day shortstop for the Dodgers in 2013, following Hanley Ramirez’ injury in the World Baseball Classic. The 28-year old played in only 27 games at shortstop, batting .188/.263/.246.
In a corresponding move, the Indians designated David Cooper for assignment.
