Oscars 2014: Lupita Nyong'o Wins Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role

The ballots have been cast, and the winner has been chosen. Lupita Nyong’o has won the award for Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for her work in the film 12 Years a Slave.

Everyone has their role to play in a motion picture; the directors bring their visions to light from behind the camera, composers make things happen from behind a mixer, and actors and actresses bring their characters to life in front of the camera.

While most people tend to remember the lead in a movie, some of the most important characters in a film are the supporting cast. Without them, the story would never fully come to life before our eyes.

Here is a look at Nyong’o as she accepts her Award and hold her trophy high.
