The Big Ten Conference recently announced its Men’s Basketball Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week award winners for March 3.
Indiana Hoosiers forward Will won the Player of the Week. The senior averaged 18.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game leading Indiana to a 2-1 record last week, which including wins over nationally ranked Iowa and Ohio State.
In the win over Iowa, Sheehey scored 30 points on 13-of-20 shooting, pulled down four rebounds and handed out three assists. In the victory over Ohio State, he added 19 points, four steals and six rebounds. This is the first time Sheehey has earned the Player of the Week honor.
The Freshman of the Week went to Illinois Fighting Illini guard Kendrick Nunn. Nunn averaged 10.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in leading Illinois to victories over Nebraska and nationally ranked Michigan State.
Against the Huskers, Nunn scored 13 points, grabbed three rebounds and handed out three assists. At Michigan State, he scored eight points and had six rebounds with four assists. This is the second time Nunn has been recognized with the award this season.
