Brooklyn Nets to sign Jason Collins to a second 10-day contract

After missing out on he Brooklyn Nets on a big man at the trade deadline (Los Angeles Lakers’ reserve power forward Jordan Hill) and during buyout season (power forward Glen “Big Baby” Davis, who agreed to a buyout with the Orlando Magic and signed with the Los Angeles Clippers), the Nets turned to veteran center Jason Collins, giving him a 10-day contract.

With the contract set to run out, the Nets are extending a second 10-day contract to Collins.

After this contract up, the Nets have to decide whether or not they will keep Collins for the rest of the season. They are expected to sign him for the rest of the season, likely 10 days from Tuesday.

In four games with the Nets this season, Collins is playing 8.5 minutes per game. He’s averaging 0.8 points and 1.0 rebound per game.
