Joe Rogan talks 'huge announcement' for Ronda Rousey's next opponent

Ronda Rousey has fought twice in the last two months, and both times she defended her Women’s Bantamweight title in spectacular fashion. Back in December, at UFC 168, Rousey rematched her bitter rival, Miesha Tate, and once again armbarred her for the third round submission victory. At UFC 170, Rousey broke her armbar streak by defeating Sara McMann by TKO due to a brutal knee to the liver.

Dana White has since stated that Rousey will only fight once more in 2014, and many expect that to be on July 4th weekend. With challengers as sparse as ever, many believe the UFC could be signing Cris Cyborg, Holly Holm, or even Gina Carano to take on Rousey next. UFC commentator, Joe Rogan, was a guest on KROQ’s Kevin & Bean Show Friday morning in Los Angeles, and said that there is a ‘huge announcement’ coming for Rousey’s next fight.

MMA Fighting transcribed Rogan’s comments on the show:

I wish I could tell you what I know. I wish I could tell you. I know some secret stuff. I know some secret stuff, but I can’t tell you. You might actually know, but I can’t tell you. I can say no more than I’ve already said. I will tell you this … within the next probably week or so a huge announcement will come about women’s fighting… It’s going to be crazy. Madness. I wish I could [talk about it now], but I would betray the confidence of my friend and employer.

Fansided will keep you covered when any more information is made available on Rousey’s next opponent.
