MLB Rumors: Johan Santana to the Orioles?

It’s not much to go on, but sometimes what you see is what you get.

MLB Network Radio’s Jim Duquette, who is with broadcast partner Mike Ferrin in Sarasota to do a season preview on the Baltimore Orioles noticed something interesting as he was working.

Any deal with Santana would likely be a minor league deal, but would also probably include an invite to Major League spring training.

Santana, the 34-year old Venezuelan, has been the victim of his own body, having suffered through two burst capsules in his shoulder that caused him to miss the last season and a half. At his best, with the Minnesota Twins, Santana compiled a 93-44 record with a 3.22 ERA over 8 seasons, winning the Cy Young award twice. He has also pitched for the New York Mets, where he flourished before injury, becoming the only Mets pitcher to throw a no-hitter.

The four-time All-Star has been working out for clubs, but reportedly has been suffering from a lack of velocity.
