Free agent linebacker D’Qwell Jackson is certainly going to take his time and explore all of his options vigorously. He’s already met with the Tennessee Titans and the AFC Champion Denver Broncos, and now, according to a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Jackson will now make a stop to meet with another team in the AFC, the Miami Dolphins.
Jackson flew to Denver on Sunday and met with the Broncos, where he could definitely fill a need, judging from the defensive performance in the Super Bowl last month.
But, he could also fill some nice space on the Miami defense as well. Last offseason’s pick ups, Dannell Ellerbee and Patrick Wheeler have exactly pleased many with their performances, but they’re Jeff Ireland guys, so who really has been happy with anything Ireland has done?
Also, off the field, Jackson would be a nice presence in that Miami locker room. We’ve all learned through the Richie Incognito-Jonathan Martin situation that the Dolphins desperately need all the leadership they can get in that group. Jackson could definitely provide that.
I mean, Jackson did his best to keep the Browns together in his time there. You can’t really ask much more than that.
