Re-signing Michael Johnson would eat into a significant part of the Cincinnati Bengals payroll, something they’re apparently pondering over.

While they’d like Johnson back, they’re already strong with Carlos Dunlap and Geno Atkins and given Johnson’s salary demands, it’s an iffy situation.

That said, Paul Dehner Jr. of Cincinnati.com does believe Johnson’s odds of re-signing with the Bengals are better than they were just a short time ago, though, hints as the Minnesota Vikings as the most likely destination.

"My gut still says he ends up in Minnesota, but my percentage chance he stays is a higher number today than it was a few weeks ago. I’d place it around 40 percent."

Why the Vikings? Namely because they need a player like Johnson, will likely be willing to pay his hefty price tag and he’ll be reuniting with former defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, who is now Minnesota’s head coach.

It still seems to be a relatively fluid situation at the current moment so things can change (and do so quite quickly) but Dehner seems to believe Johnson ends up with the Vikings when all is said and done (at least for now).
