The Denver Nuggets will welcome point guard Ty Lawson back into the starting lineup tonight against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Lawson has sat out the last nine games with a fractured rib.
Nuggets coach Brian Shaw made the announcement and said there won’t be a limit placed on the amount of minutes Lawson will play.
“It seemed to have lit up everybody on the team,” Denver coach Brian Shaw said. “Everybody’s looking forward to getting him out there. Having that speed and their floor leader hopefully will inject some positives and energy that we sorely need.”
The Nuggets have been in a free fall since Lawson went down, going 1-8 in their last nine. The team also lost backup point guard Nate Robinson for the season with a torn ACL.
Lawson said the worst part was helplessly watching from the bench.
“Just not being out there helping my teammates, seeing them struggle a little bit,” said Lawson. “There’s nothing I could do. That was the hardest part. I couldn’t do anything to help them.”
