Gotham Adds Drew Powell to the Cast as Butch Gilzean

It would seem as if another villain is joining the ranks of the upcoming Fox series Gotham. Deadline is reporting that actor Drew Powell has been added to the ever-growing list of cast members.

This is certainly not his first outing on the small screen. Powell is most well-known for his recurring role as Reede Smith on the CBS series The Mentalist.

As for his character on Gotham, he will be playing the second in command to Fish Mooney, the sadistic gangster boss of none other than Oswald Cobblepot, who most of you will recognize as the given name of The Penguin.

The cast of the upcoming series seems to be rounding out quite nicely. On February 11th, it was announced that they had cast actor Sean Pertwee in the role of Alfred Pennyworth, the faithful servant to the Wayne Family. They also cast The Walking Dead’s Robin Lord Taylor as a young Oswald Cobblepot and Zabryna Guevara as Captain Essen as the head of the Homicide Division at the Gotham PD.

What would a series be without its lead? The O.C. actor Ben McKenzie has been cast as the young, not yet Commissioner, James Gordon. His partner, Detective Harvey Bullock, will be played by Sons of Anarchy actor Donal Logue.

As for Gilzean’s boss Fish Mooney, that role will be taken by actress Jada Pinkett Smith.

The cast is certainly rounding out quite nicely. Now, the next test will be to see how they all work together on the screen. There are a lot of skilled actors in the mix here, which could definitely make for some interesting television.
