Nationals reunite with Mike Gonzalez

The Washington Nationals figure to have a healthy competition within their bullpen and they’ve now added another piece, this time a familiar name.

Left-hander Mike Gonzalez has re-signed with the Washington Nationals after a lost season with the Milwaukee Brewers. Chris Cotillo reports that it is a minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training. Gonzalez will earn $1.5 million if he earns a spot in the bullpen and has $750,000 of incentives to earn as well.

Last year, with the Brewers, Gonzalez suffered three losses in 75 games with a much-higher-than-average 4.68 ERA. While with the Nationals in 2012, Gonzalez was used as a situational lefty, pitching to a 3.03 ERA in 35.2 innings.
