Nats' Stephen Strasburg throws 15 pitches in 2 innings

Sometimes, you just have to move aside for the next guy to get his work in.

That was the case for Stephen Strasburg, ace for the Washington Nationals, as he completely blew threw the Atlanta Braves in Spring Training today. MASN’s Dan Kolko says that Strasburg was trying to work on holding runners and also sported an assortment of off-speed pitches.

Strasburg’s fastball sat at 94 MPH on the stadium gun and he touched 96 MPH. He showed off a nice curveball to B.J. Upton that Upton took for a strike, and mixed in what looked like a few changeups. I’ll need to ask Strasburg in a bit whether he experimented with the slider today, a pitch he’s been working on this spring.

Strasburg threw nine of his total fifteen pitches for strikes, inducing one double play and striking out one. He got more work done in a bullpen session after being relieved by Taylor Jordan.
