On Monday during a spring training outing against the Cleveland Indians, Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson fulfilled his obligation to the Texas Rangers by throwing aside the football pads for a baseball uniform and suiting up, much to the delight of the national media and fans in attendance.
Obviously, as we all assumed, Wilson didn’t see any action in the exhibition game, but that doesn’t mean that he sat around and did nothing but sign autographs and take pictures.
No, before the game got underway, Wilson took some infield practice with the group.
You have to admire the honesty of Wilson to stick to his contract with the Rangers and show up to spend some time with the guys in spring training.
There was nothing but high praise from his teammates as Wilson had a talk with each of them, no doubt about what it feels like to be a world champion as Wilson found out first-hand last month as the quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks.
Maybe his bit of extra motivation could eventually get this team back to the World Series.
