This  Tuesday has a solid board of picks for tonight even though the earlier picks in the day are from lesser-known leagues.  We start with Russian hockey, French basketball, and English soccer on our eclectic morning and afternoon board. Tonight, the options are from the NBA, NHL, and college hoops. There are plenty of options, but some tricky matchups. Here’s my picks for the day and my confidence in each on a scale of 1-10.

3/4 Streak Picks

8:00- AK Bars Kazan: The Streak for the Cash legends from the KHL return in our morning pick.   AK Bars never seams to lose these props but the odds are pretty even. If you need a jump start to your streak, go with Bars Kazan but other than that I’d avoid this pick. Confidence-3

2:45- Rotherham United Win: The daytime pickings are a little slim in the middle of the week which is how this English League One match gets onto the board.  Rotherham is fifth in the table as they visit Colchester United who are all the way down in 19th.  Colchester hasn’t won a match in their last five league contests while Rotherham has won five of their last six. It looks like an easy play, but picking a team to go on the road and win is hardly ever a lock.  Rotherham does look like a solid pick, though. Confidence-6

2:50- Dijon: This French LNB Pro-A hoops game does feature a few familiar names including former Tar Heel Sean May on Paris and Hokie Anthony Dobbins playing for Dijon.  Dijon is currently in third place with a 13-7 record while Paris is 12-8 in sixth place. Dijon is 10-0 at home and they’re the way I’d lean although this isn’t a league I’m very familiar with. Confidence-4

6:32- UCF Knights: The Knights are four-point underdogs as they go into Temple, but the Owls are only 7-21 on the year having lost eight of nine and are just 2-14 in their last 16 games.  The Knights have actually won two of their last five including a win over Rutgers in their last home game.  Both teams are struggling, so I’d avoid this pick if possible. Confidence-4 1/2

7:02- Michigan Wolverines: The Wolverines are three-point road favorites as they head to Champagne to take on the Illini.  Michigan hasn’t faced Illinois this season and the Illini are coming off three straight wins highlighted by an upset of Michigan State on the road in their most recent game.  It’s an in-conference road game for the Wolverines which are never easy, but they’ve been playing well lately winning four of their last five and taking care of business as they roll to the postseason tournaments. It’s a good pick to get UM straight up, but don’t be fooled by their ranking into thinking this is a lock. Confidence-5

7:03- No At least 1 team no player scores 10+ in 1st half: These big 10 games tend to be losw scoring and neither team has a player that averages 20 a game, so most like this will go under. It’s still a prop so flukey things can happen, but it’s a nice short pick if you don’t have a long streak coming into the evening. Confidence-6

7:04- Baylor Bears: Baylor hosts Iowa State and are favored by two despite the ranking and record disparity.  The Cyclones won by ten when the teams met earlier this season but this time they’ll be on the road where they’ve lost two of their last three and have gone 3-5 in conference play.  Baylor is playing much better now than they were earlier as well having won five of their last six including heir last three home games. Confidence-4

7:04- Creighton Bluejays: The Bluejays are favored by four on the road at Georgetown who have lost three of their last four although they have all been road games.  Creighton fell at Xavier on Saturday, but will look to bounce back as they try to chase down Villanova for the top stop in the Big East standings. Confidence-6

7:04- Any Other Result: Florida has been predictable in the SEC season steamrolling everyone at home and barely winning on the road.  That being said, South Carolina has been pretty bad this season although they are coming off a big upset over Kentucky.  Getting back to back wins over the top two teams in the conference would be asking a lot of the Gamecocks, but I do think they will keep it within the 15 points. Confidence-4

7:05- Columbus Blue Jackets: Columbus will be playing for the second consecutive night as they host Dallas who also played last night against Buffalo.  The Blue Jackets are 17-11-2 at home, and get the pick here on their home ice. Confidence-3

7:05- Detroit Red Wings: The Red Wings host New Jersey as they continue their playoff push.  Johan Franzen has been on a scoring tear and the Wings are pretty good at home, so they get the pick here. Confidence- 5

8:05- Chicago Blackhawks: In a great Western Conference matchup, the Blackhawks host the Avs in their fourth meeting of the season.  The Avs have won two of three, but the Blackhawks are playing well after beating the Penguins 5-1 in their last game. Confidence-5

8:05- Pittsburgh Penguins: The Penguins go on the road to face the Predators in Nashville looking to bounce back from that loss as they head to Nashville to face the Predators who have gone 1-1 since the Olympic break. Confidence-6

8:05- Winnipeg Jets: The Isles have dropped their last two games by a combined score of 11-4 and the Jets have won both their games since the break. Confidence-4

8:05- Houston Rockets: In a really good inter-conference game, the Heat visit Houston where the Rockets are 23-7 this season. Miami is playing the second half of a back-to-back while the Rockets haven’t played since Saturday.  If any Western Conference team has the recipe to beat Miami, I think it’s Houston who creates matchup difficulties for Miami with Dwight Howard and James Harden.  The Champs are actually one-point underdogs as they head to Houston, but is still feels like taking the upset picking against them. Confidence-4

8:07- Illinois makes 1 3-Pointer: This is an interesting prop that I don’t remember seeing on Streak in the past. Illinois can keep this one close I think, and should be able to get one three-pointer before the Buckeyes get two. Confidence-3

9:05- Kentucky wins by 15+ Points: UK is favored by 13 as they host Alabama. Kentuky has lost their last two including a bad loss at South Carolina, but Alabama has been bad on the road all season going 0-8 in conference road games. Confidence-3 1/2

9:05- Florida State Seminoles: FSU travels to Boston College to face the Eagles who are just 4-12 in ACC play. BC has actually gotten their last two wins on the road while FSU has won three of four. Confidence-6

9:05- Phoenix SunsThe Suns destroyed the Clippers when they met just before New Years in LA winning by 19 points.  When you add to that the facts that the Suns  are 21-11 at home and have taken 11 of their last 12 meetings with the Clippers in Phoenix, I think the Suns are poised to pull the upset as they come in as three-point home ‘dogs. Confidence-5

9:05- Phoenix Coyotes: Vancouver went into the Olumpic break with seven straight losses and have dropped two of three since including a home loss to Ottawa on Sunday.  The Coyotes have also dropped their three games since the break, but since they’re at home I’ll take them to get the win here. Confidence-4

9:12- Providence Friars: The Friars have won three of four and I like them here even though they lost by 11 to Marquette earlier this season.  Marquette is a much better team at home than they are on the road, and given Providence’s momentum, I think they’ll get the win. Confidence-5

9:35- Edmonton Oilers: Edmonton won the earlier matchup between these two teams and is still looking for their first post-Olympic win.  Ottawa is 1-1 since the break but their win was against a strugglign Vancouver after they got crushed by the Red Wings in their first game back. Confidence-4

10:40- Los Angeles Lakers: The Pelicans come into the Staples center playing their second road game in as many nights.  The Lakers have won two of their last three at home even though they’re just 2-7 in their last nine games.  The Lakers don’t inspire any confidence, but they are the slightly better option. Confidence-3
