Warmups between Kings, Pelicans disrupted by flying bat (Video)

On Monday night, things started out slow offensively for the New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings.

That’s probably because the two squads rushed off the court when a wayward bat made its way into Sleep Train Arena before the Kings hosted the Pelicans.

Multiple players were on the court getting their warmups in, including Rudy Gay, Travis Outlaw and Derrick Williams when the bat swooped down near the court. That was enough for the Sacramento Kings players, who rushed back towards the tunnel and made their way to the locker room.

Cowbell Kingdom of ESPN captured video of the oddity, where the bat was eventually captured by stadium personnel.

Oddly enough, this is the second time in a few seasons the Kings have dealt with a bat disrupting their play as five years ago (on Halloween, oddly enough) a bat forced a stoppage in play between the Kings and Spurs in San Antonio.

Manu Ginobili (brave man that he is) captured the bat with his bare hands and spent time after the game getting medical shots, just in case.
