Doing promotion has to be one of the more irritating aspects of being famous. Sure, you get paid for it, but getting asked the same questions over and over for twelve hours probably gets pretty frustrating.
I’m guessing that’s why Seattle Mariners legend Ken Griffey Jr. wasn’t exactly thrilled during a recent sit-down with ESPN.
Longtime Sportscenter anchor Linda Cohn was given the duty of interviewing Junior via satellite, who was promoting Upper Deck and the anniversary of Griffey’s 1989 rookie card.
Only problem? It didn’t seem like Griffey wanted anything to do with it.
I mean, look at Ken’s body language before the piece even starts. He looks like he just found out some angering news.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, Griffey doesn’t really give much more than single word answers which understandably trip Cohn up.
He seemed to warm up a bit (I guess) towards the end of the interview – and finally wanted to talk but Cohn seemed to cut him off before he could get out what he was trying to say.
Guess Junior was just having a bad day.
