Despite concerns about the potential for a serious injury expressed by coach Alberto Salazar, Mo Farah announced this week that he’ll be competing in the Sainsbury’s Glasgow Grand Prix this July.
The meet will come a couple months after Farah competes in the London Marathon for the first time in his career.
In his announcement, Farah said he’s excited to compete in front of his home crowd:
“Glasgow will be one of my first track appearances in front of a home crowd in 2014, and having produced my best in front of the British public in London, I’m really looking forward to getting back out there and taking in the home support. Nothing in the world can compare to a British crowd and I will be doing everything I can to get the Hampden crowd going.”
Farah will run the London Marathon on April 13. The Sainsbury’s Glasgow Grand Prix will be held from July 11-12.
