The NHL trade deadline is here and there are deals going right down to the wire. One of the guys that a lot of folks thought had to be traded today was Buffalo Sabres forward Matt Moulson and it appears that the team found a way to make a trade happen.
Moulson was dealt in the 11th hour of the trade deadline to the Minnesota Wild. The Sabres will be sending Moulson and Cody McCormick to the Wild for Torrey Mitchell and an undisclosed draft pick.
The deal makes a ton of sense for both the Wild and the Sabres as Buffalo deals a guy they lily wouldn’t have been able to re-sign in the summer and the Wild have acquired a sharp shooting forward that makes them an even more lethal threat to make a playoff run.
Minnesota and Buffalo have a decent trade history as the two teams made a deal for Jason Pominville last year. The Wild were looking at possibly acquiring Thomas Vanek, who has a home in Minnesota and went to school there, but Moulson isn’t a bad prize to get instead.
