As we get closer to this afternoon’s NHL trade deadline, one player to watch will be Tampa Bay Lightning forward Martin St. Louis. The Lightning captain has previously said that he would like to play for the New York Rangers and he may get his wish.
According to Sportsnet’s John Shannon, the Rangers have made an offer for St. Louis and they will just need to wait and see what Tampa Bay general manager Steve Yzerman and St. Louis want to do.
There can be plenty of developments over the course of the next few hours and trade talks could wind up dying down, but it looks right now like there is mutual interest and the move could be made.
Of course, Tampa Bay is in the middle of the playoff race so moving a star player like St. Louis may not be the smartest move.
