The New York Jets are in dire need of some help in the wide receiver department, which leads most to speculate that the team might use their first round draft pick at no. 18 this coming May on a wideout. Undoubtedly, Clemson’s Sammy Watkins is the most coveted of the group this year, and Jets head coach Rex Ryan knows this, however he–like the rest of us–doesn’t believe Watkins will make it to him and his team.

"“But there’€™s no way he’ll be there,” Ryan told the Associated Press, according to nypost.com. In an interview with Watkins after his workout, NFL Media analyst Mike Mayock told Watkins that Ryan said if he did happen to fall, “he ain’t getting to 19.”"

If Ryan was really that impressed with Watkins at his Pro Day on Thursday, there’s always the possibility that the team could trade up from the 18 spot to grab the former Tigers star, an idea that has already been thrown around in regards to the Detroit Lions, who are equally as impressed as everyone else.

In the end, though, Ryan and the Jets may just have to hope that either Mike Evans drops to them, or they could steal away Brandin Cooks in that opening round.
