Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Bronson Arroyo was scratched from Tuesday’s game and has been diagnosed with a bulging disk. It was the same disk that troubled Arroyo in 2011 and doctors say he’ll be limited for the next seven to 10 days.
To treat it the D’Backs gave him an epidural Wednesday morning.
“He feels a lot better since he’s had that,” general manager Kevin Towers said, via the team’s website. “They want it to calm down before he starts throwing again. Of course, Arroyo doesn’t think it will take that long. Nothing they’re concerned about. It’s not a herniated disk. He did it running the other day, felt it running. It’s not anything worse than he had before. [Lee] thinks as long as they hit the spot right with the epidural, he should be fine.”
Arroyo has proven his toughness before fighting his way through injuries in the past and should be available for the start of the regular season.
