Chael Sonnen says he may have to retire after TRT ban (Video)

Chael Sonnen is one of the UFC’s staple athletes. Not only is Chael the best promoter, but he was a former title challenger, Anderson Silva’s original rival, a two time TUF coach, and a member of the Fox Sports team as an analyst.

The UFC needs Sonnen as he is one the brands most recognizable faces and best draws. With the recent news that TRT has been banned, Sonnen realized it may force him to retire. Sonnen, who was diagnosed with hypogonadism in 2008, says his life with TRT is much better and without it his life is ‘terrible’.

While his next fight is scheduled to be on May 31st against bitter rival and fellow TUF coach, Wanderlei Silva, it is possible that Sonnen may not be able to compete. In the video below, watch Sonnen break down how the TRT ban is affecting him, and how it could possibly force him to retire:

Sonnen is clearly going to try other methods of stabilizing his testosterone levels, but if they fail we may have seen the last of ‘The American Gangster’ inside the Octagon. Regardless, if Chael retires from competition, he will not be going anywhere. Chael will almost certainly stick with the Fox crew and help the UFC in any way that he can.
