The Minnesota Vikings released tight end John Carlson earlier in the week, just two years into a five-year deal. Now he is looking for a new home and he is meeting with the Arizona Cardinals this week ahead of free agency.

Carlson has battled concussion issues and is a risk to be signed. He is a better receiver than blocker so used in the right role, a complimentary tight end in passing situations, could benefit him and what ever team signs him. Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians doesn’t seem to be a fit though.

New York Daily News columnist Seth Walder thinks the Jets could be a fit.

"Carlson was cut by the Vikings on Wednesday, but he could reunite with John Idzik. Carlson was with the Seahawks from 2008-2011, and should Idzik want the 29-year-old to play for him again, he is available. Carlson caught 32 passes for 344 yards and a touchdown last year."

Though getting out of position to reel in Geno Smith passes might not be the best place for him. Where ever he goes, he should be affordable.
