In the middle of last month, the How I Met Your Mother spinoff series How I Met Your Dad finally made some movement when they cast their “mother.” According to Deadline, they have a made a little more progress today as they have added Smash actress Krysta Rodriguez to the cast.
Rodriguez will play Juliet, the best friend of the main character, whose name is Sally. The role of Sally is being played by Greta Gerwig, who starred opposite Russell Brand in the film Arthur.
If you had to relate the new series to the original How I Met Your Mother, Sally would be the Ted of the series while Juliet would be a much smaller version of Marshall.
Here is how Juliet is described as per Deadline:
Rodriguez plays Sally’s best friend Juliet, a sexy, flamboyant force of nature who runs the most successful fashion blog in the country.”
At this moment in time, there is no official release date for the pilot of the show; however, with the series finale of How I Met Your Mother set to air in two parts on March 31st, one could assume that it would not be until at the very least after that date.
It will be interesting to see the tale told from the other side of the spectrum; however, the show will certainly have some big shoes to fill as How I Met Your Mother has set the bar pretty high in terms of hilarity over the years. A strong cast will be essential to the success of the series, so it will be interesting to see who they cast to help fill out the remaining roles.
