Missouri Tigers head coach Gary Pinkel received a contract extension on Thursday that will keep him in Columbia through the 2020 season.
Pinkel, who helped lead the Tigers to a 12-2 record and an SEC East title last season, will also see a raise in his salary. Having earned $2.8 million in 2013, Pinkel will receive $3.1 million in 2014 and will have $100,000 added to his salary each subsequent season.
Here’s what Pinkel had to say in the official release:
“I’m very honored and proud to be the coach at Mizzou, and I appreciate the opportunity. We will work very hard to continue to build our program and to graduate our players. It’s important for our program to keep moving forward and build on a solid foundation. I’m pleased that my assistant coaches continue to get recognized for the work they do. We are fortunate to have a great staff at Mizzou.”
Pinkel has won 102 with the Tigers since taking over in 2001, the most in school history. Under his leadership, the Tigers have won five of their nine bowl appearances.
