MMA Mindset: Brad Pickett

Longtime perennial Bantamweight contender in both the UFC and WEC, Brad Pickett, has dropped down to Flyweight in hopes of rejuvenating his career. This weekend, he steps inside the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 37 in London, England to take on UFC newcomer, Neil Seery.

Pickett has an edge over all the current UFC Flyweights in that he is the only fighter in the division to hold a win over the champion, Demetrious Johnson. Back at WEC 48, Pickett defeated Johnson in a Bantamweight bout by unanimous decision. Pickett wants to get another crack at Johnson, and this time take his title from him.

Before watching the bout this weekend, check out the short video above as Pickett explains his mindset going into this bout. Former WEC Featherweight champion and training partner, Mike Brown, makes a cameo in the video explaining Brad’s rigorous training schedule.

As for Neil Seery, he is the late replacement for Ian McCall who was forced out of the bout due to an injury. Seery is from Dublin, Ireland and is 13-9 in his career. He will be taking a huge step up in competition when he faces off against Pickett this weekend. 11 of Seery’s victories have come by way of finish, so we can expect an exciting fight come fight night.
