Nevada’s Deonte Burton wasn’t exactly popular outside of the Mountain West Conference yesterday morning, but today he’s become a star – all thanks to the spotty defense of Boise State’s basketball team.
With 17 minutes left in the second half, Burton came streaking in from mid-court as a teammate sat in the post with the rock in his hand.
A pass was dropped off to Burton who decided he was going in for a dunk and wouldn’t be stopped, no matter how hard the Boise State defense tried.
And they tried, make no mistake, but were left on a poster for their efforts – especially big man Ryan Watkins who attempted to block the shot.
That ended up being a poor decision though as Burton threw down a nasty hammer, leaping from outside the paint, seemingly stretching out his arm like a cartoon character to complete the finish.
More impressive than just the actual dunk though was the ferocity Burton brought with the slam, making it one beautiful package that spent the evening as Sportscenter’s top play.
