Adidas to make uniforms for U.S. golfers at 2016 Rio Olympics

When golf makes its triumphant return to the Summer Olympics in 2016, the American delegates will be sporting adidas uniforms.

Executive director of USA Golf Adam Levinson discussed the partnership earlier this week:

“Adidas Golf not only has great products, they also have an extensive history in the Olympics.

“They were extremely prominent in London at the 2012 Games, and as I said, they’ve really showed a commitment and excitement to helping USA Golf as a new organisation and golf entity build our brand.

“We feel strongly that they’re the best one for the job.”

Ben Sharpe of adidas also chimed in:

“We are elated that the game’s best players will showcase their talents in our apparel on the world’s greatest stage.

“The storied history of Adidas has long been associated with the greatest athletes in the world, and we’re proud to support the athletes of the USA Golf team as they compete for their place in Olympic history.”

To quick (and incompatible) points here:

1) We went with adidas? Really? Nothing against the apparel company, but I feel like Team USA shouldn’t be sporting German-made uniforms? However…

2) Thank god we aren’t going with Under Armour.
