It appears as if Chicago Bulls play-by-play man Neil Funk has just started an avalanche of rumors.
The Bulls have all but ruled point guard Derrick Rose out for the season as he recovers from a knee operation, but Funk has a hunch that Rose will return to the lineup this season.
“My belief is he’s going to play before this season is over,” Funk said Wednesday on the “Carmen & Jurko” show on ESPN Chicago 1000. “No one in the Bulls organization … they have stuck to their guns that he is out for the season. But I just have this feeling, I don’t know why, and this isn’t the first time that I’ve said it, but I really think he’s going to play before the season is over.”
It doesn’t appear that Funk has any inside information, just that he has a ‘hunch’ Rose will return.
Chicago will have a postseason birth awaiting them and Rose’s potential return timetable would be around a similar date, though it all seems a bit too good to be true at this moment.
