Earlier today, the Jacksonville Jaguars stirred the free agent quarterback pot by re-signing Chad Henne.
The deal, first reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN had no terms attached to it – just length. Now we have details on the dollar amount as Schefter reports the deal is worth $8 million dollars over the course of two seasons with $4.5 million guaranteed in the first season.
Jaguars gave QB Chad Henne a two-year, $8 million deal that includes $4.5 million guaranteed in year one, per league source.
While it’s by no stretch a backbreaking deal, it’s not exactly ‘cheap’ either. That said – it’s for two seasons and it will allow the Jaguars to bridge time (if needed) for a young quarterback.
Given the circumstances it’s not the greatest deal financially but it won’t really hurt the Jaguars either, especially given the ability to get out of the deal next year (though it’ll cost them).
