Phillies deny Ervin Santana reports

Despite reports from Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe earlier today saying that the Philadelphia Phillies were inquiring about Ervin Santana, a new report has been released saying that the team has not actually contacted the 30-year old starter.

Matt Gelb of the Philly Inquirer, admittedly a source much closer to the Phillies than Nick Cafardo of Boston, tweeted this out.

There seems to be quite a bit of reporters being fooled by their sources, as two beat writers earlier today reported that Brad Penny had been released by the Royals because he injured his hand punching a wall following a dismal performance. Penny later texted Chris Cotillo himself refuting that report.
